Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Stallions vs. The Classical Academy Titans

Sierra is 1-9 against The Classical Academy since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sierra Stallions will head out on the road to challenge The Classical Academy Titans at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Sierra was able to grind out a solid win over Mitchell, taking the game 41-28. Given the Stallions' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Marauders are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sierra's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marisa Reyes, who posted 13 points. What's more, Reyes also posted a 33% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Ziyon Nicholson was another key player, putting up seven points and six steals.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led The Classical Academy over Sand Creek in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that The Classical Academy blew Sand Creek out of the water with a 66-18 final score. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 30 points or more this season.

Sierra pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points over those games. As for The Classical Academy, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Sierra couldn't quite finish off The Classical Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 48-46. Can Sierra avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
