Softball Recap: Lane Tech Victorious

Lane Tech barely beat Payton College Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Champions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 14-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Champions in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won eight in a row.

Olivia Segura was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Chayse Radcliff, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Lane Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.

Lane Tech's record is now 13-6. As for Payton College Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lane Tech will challenge Stevenson at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Champions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Payton College Prep, they will square off against Hancock at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last eight contests.
