League recap: Sciacca overpowering for Trinity Prep in past week

Sacramento Metro league recap: 3/20/13

Sacramento Metro's top pitcher this week was Trinity Prep's Tony Sciacca. Over the past week, he had one win and 15 Ks.

Top honors in the league this week go to Valley Christian, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Lions beat Sacramento Country Day 14-1, the Cavaliers 11-0 and Wheatland 6-3.

The Crusaders boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Lutheran had trouble finding a groove at the plate as a team this week, racking up a league-leading 42 strikeouts. The Panthers have struggled at the plate this season, leading the league with 64 strikeouts.

Three batters hit over .400 this week. They were led by Michael Rowles, who hit .667 this week (2-for-3).



Sciacca struck out 15 in Trinity Prep's 7-1 win over Delta on March 15. He gave up four hits and one run over seven innings of work.
