Birdville posted their closest win since August 24, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Brennan Bears 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.
Emma Lawless paced Birdville's offense, picking up 14 kills. Lawless got some help from Abbi Parr and her 20 assists. Maddie Duckworth controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
When it comes to explaining why Brennan lost, don't look at Mia Nunez. Despite the final result, she had 19 digs and one assist. Nunez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played.
Birdville's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Brennan, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Coincidentally, Birdville and Brennan will both be playing Wylie the next time they take the court. The Bears will head out to face the Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Hawks will head out to face them at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
