Baseball Recap: Archbishop Curley Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Archbishop Curley dropped their record down to 13-9 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 9-0 to the John Carroll Patriots. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Friars haven't been shut out since back in March.

As for John Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.

For John Carroll's part, they got a great performance from Brooks Mueller as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Mueller a new career-high.

At the plate, Miguel Leon was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Will Rhine was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

While Archbishop Curley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
