Baseball Game Preview: Marmion Cadets vs. IC Catholic Prep Knights

The Marmion Cadets will square off against the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Marmion's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They skirted past Aurora Central Catholic 1-0. The Cadets haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Jack Hughes looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marmion's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nate Bostrand, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Bostrand a new career-high.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for IC Catholic Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Ridgewood on Wednesday.

IC Catholic Prep pushed their record up to 8-16 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Marmion, their victory bumped their record up to 18-11-1.

Marmion was able to grind out a solid win over IC Catholic Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-1. Will the Cadets repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
