Meridian extended their winning streak  to four  on Friday, bumping their season record up to 18-3 in the process. They came out on top against the Tuscola Warriors by a score of  5-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  15-0  back in April.
 Ashley Schelling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in ten consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Madi Kapchinske, who  went 2-for-4 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of  Emma Childers, who  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI.
As for Tuscola, they moved to 11-7 with that  defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak. Having soared to a lofty ten  runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Tuscola's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Kinzie Cleland gave up five earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
 On the hitting side,  Ava Boyer was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 1-for-3 with one  home run.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meridian will square off against Auburn at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5  runs per game  this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tuscola, they will face off against St. Teresa at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Warriors are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on  a  12-game losing streak.
