You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Newnan's strategy against Northgate on Saturday. The Newnan Cougars took down the Northgate Vikings 59-42. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-37 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Northgate still got an impressive performance from Deasia Stinson, who posted 14 points and three steals. Stinson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. Thalia Caines was another key player, putting up seven points.

The win made it two in a row for Newnan and bumps their season record up to 10-11. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 7-15 Lovejoy and 7-10 Northgate. As for Northgate, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Newnan has already played their next game, a 48-47 victory against Dutchtown on the 4th. As for Northgate, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-56 loss against Lovejoy on the 4th.
