Basketball Recap: Makenzie Rigsby's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Christian Community over Merrol Hyde Magnet

Christian Community was the 45-41 winner over Merrol Hyde Magnet when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Christian Community Colts fell just short of the Merrol Hyde Magnet Hawks by a score of 51-49 on Tuesday.

Christian Community's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenzie Rigsby, who posted 16 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Rigsby a new career-high in points. M.J. Dodd was another key player, putting up five points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Christian Community's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Merrol Hyde Magnet, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.

Christian Community and Merrol Hyde Magnet could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Christian Community (ranked 212th) will meet Clarksville Christian (ranked 69th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Meanwhile, Merrol Hyde Magnet (ranked 343rd) will meet Trousdale County (ranked 106th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
