Softball Recap: Fall River Drops Highest Score of Season Against Weed

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fall River). They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over the Weed Cougars on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kayla Oilar made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Kaydence Babcock was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Darcie Range was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Fall River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Fall River picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-15. As for Weed, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-20-1 record this season.

Fall River will have a chance to go back-to-back against Weed: the pair will be back at it again later today.
