Preview: Auburn Tigers vs. Smiths Station Panthers
The Auburn Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Smiths Station Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Auburn's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home while Smiths Station has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Last Friday, Auburn faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Auburn fell 74-62 to Central. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite their loss, Auburn saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tabari Allen, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Franklin, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, even though Opelika scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Smiths Station still came out on top. Smiths Station managed a 62-58 win over Opelika.
Auburn's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-4. As for Smiths Station, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14.
Everything went Auburn's way against Smiths Station when the teams last played two weeks ago as Auburn made off with a 68-46 victory. Will Auburn repeat their success, or does Smiths Station have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
