Volleyball Game Preview: Irvine Vaqueros vs. Woodbridge Warriors + Official Tickets

The Irvine Vaqueros will venture away from home to take on the Woodbridge Warriors at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Woodbridge took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Irvine, who comes in off a win.

Irvine was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tustin, sneaking past 2-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Vaqueros as it spelled an end to their six-match losing streak.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Irvine who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 15-25, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Woodbridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Portola, falling 3-0.

While Woodbridge was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Portola's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-16, 25-22.

Irvine's victory bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Woodbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14-1.

Irvine came out on top in a nail-biter against Woodbridge in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vaqueros since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
