Hondo had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Goliad Tigers 4-3. The victory was nothing new for the Owls as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Derek Elizondo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Barr, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Tapia, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Hondo's win bumped their record up to 22-5-1. As for Goliad, with the loss, they broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Tigers beat Hondo by a score of 13-0 later that day.
