Basketball Game Preview: Preston Knights vs. Lincoln Cougars

Preston hasn't had much luck against Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Preston Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Lincoln Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Preston was able to grind out a solid win over Liberty, taking the game 67-54.

Preston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaden Bachtel led the charge by going 8 of 10 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. Bachtel continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aidan Schmidl, who went 7 for 13 en route to 19 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 80-69 to Lewis County.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Preston, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-5.

Preston came up short against Lincoln when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 63-51. Can Preston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
