Basketball Recap: Ayden Flores Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Karnes City

There's no place like home for Luling, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They had just enough and edged the Karnes City Badgers out 53-51. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 55-50 on January 10th.

Luling got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ayden Flores out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Flores has posted since back in December of 2024. Braecyn Spencer was another key player, going 7 of 11 en route to 16 points.

When it comes to explaining why Karnes City lost on Tuesday, don't look at Savion Nixon-Thompson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Crow, who posted five points and four steals.

Luling has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-14 record this season. As for Karnes City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Luling will welcome Nixon-Smiley at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Luling is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season. As for Karnes City, they will be playing at home against Goliad at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Karnes City is facing Goliad at the right time seeing as Goliad is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
