Recap: St. John Tigers vs. South Central Timberwolves
The St. John Tigers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 62-8 defeat at the hands of South Central. St. John has struggled against South Central recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Leading South Central to victory were Isaiah Jellison and JT Prusa. Jellison rushed for 79 yards and three touchdowns, while Prusa rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Prusa was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Jamie Sarminento also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
St. John's loss was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Wichita County and 8-1 Stafford (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.1% over those games). As for South Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
St. John will head out on the road to face off against Minneola at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Minneola is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for South Central, they will be playing at home against Bucklin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
