Preview: Fort Payne Wildcats vs. Jacksonville Golden Eagles
After six games on the road, Fort Payne is heading back home. They will take on the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Fort Payne ended up a good deal behind Anniston and lost 49-30.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville came up short against Gadsden City on Monday and fell 44-36. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jacksonville in their matchups with Gadsden City: they've now lost five in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ashley Grant, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds. Deasia Prothro was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 3 steals.
Fort Payne bumped their record down to 6-2 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Jacksonville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
