Basketball Recap: Beau Taber Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Boerne-Champion

Boerne-Champion typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Alamo Heights proved too difficult a challenge. They secured a 58-54 W over the Boerne-Champion Chargers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-46 back in December of 2024.

Alamo Heights got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Beau Taber out in front who went 7 for 10 en route to 16 points. DK Garza also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Despite the loss, Boerne-Champion saw an underclassman step up: freshman Gavin Peck went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 26 points. Baeden Burdick was another key player, putting up 16 points and seven rebounds.

Alamo Heights is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for Boerne-Champion, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-7.

Coincidentally, Alamo Heights and Boerne-Champion will both be playing Boerne the next time they take the court. Boerne-Champion will head out to face Boerne at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while Alamo Heights will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th.
