Football Recap: Katie Helms and Marilynnrose Meza Pace Mira Mesa Defense

Mira Mesa kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 13-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calexico Bulldogs.

Mira Mesa didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Katie Helms and MarilynnRose Meza.

Mira Mesa will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Academy of Our Lady of Peace at 6:15 p.m. on the 19th. The game will give the Marauders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Calexico, they will challenge Southwest EC at 7:30 p.m. on the 18th.
