Recap: Boca Ciega Pirates vs. Largo Packers
The Boca Ciega Pirates came into Wednesday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They snuck past Largo with a 53-49 win on Wednesday. The win was just what Boca Ciega needed coming off of a 70-48 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Jacquavia Ferguson, who scored 28 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Boca Ciega's points. Another player making a difference was JaLainah Hunt, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, Largo still got an impressive performance from Mikayla Paschal, who almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds. Paschal hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Ava Bliss was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Boca Ciega's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12. As for Largo, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Boca Ciega will take on Braden River at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Boca Ciega has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Largo, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Tarpon Springs at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Tarpon Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Tuesday.
