Softball Game Preview: Oak Grove Warriors vs. Brandon Bulldogs

The Oak Grove Warriors will challenge the Brandon Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Last Thursday, Oak Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Northwest Rankin and fell 3-2. The Warriors have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Oak Grove saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jersey Ancalade, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Brandon faced Northwest Rankin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Dakota Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Chloe Jenkins was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Hannah Jo Sullivan, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Oak Grove's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Brandon, their win bumped their record up to 19-4.

Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oak Grove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Brandon struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
