Basketball Recap: Deer Trail Comes Up Short

Deer Trail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 27th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 67-20 loss at the hands of Pikes Peak Christian. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Pikes Peak Christian this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-23 back in December of 2024.

Deer Trail lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Chauncy Gudenkauf, who posted 11 points. That was a full 55% of Deer Trail's points, marking the 11th time in a row Gudenkauf has earned more than a third of the team's points.

It was another big night for Eddie Harmon, who went 8-for-12 en route to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals for Pikes Peak Christian. Harmon's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Kallemyn, who put up seven points and six steals.

Deer Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Pikes Peak Christian, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Deer Trail will take on Burlington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Deer Trail is facing Burlington at the right time seeing as Burlington is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Pikes Peak Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against South Park at 7:00 p.m. Pikes Peak Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.
