Baseball Recap: Port Edwards Comes Up Short

Almond-Bancroft hit Port Edwards with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blackhawks fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 9-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blackhawks of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Collin O'Connor and Ethan Boerner did some serious damage despite the final result: O'Connor got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Boerner went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. O'Connor is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sam Martinson, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Port Edwards has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Almond-Bancroft, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
