Softball Recap: Fox Chapel Beats Plum for Their Third Straight Win

Fox Chapel extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 6-1-1 in the process. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Plum Mustangs. Those five runs were actually the fewest the Foxes have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

As for Plum, they moved to 12-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Plum's part, Riley Stephans was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. Stephans was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Fox Chapel will host Penn Hills at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.75 runs per game on average), something the Foxes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Plum, they will head out to challenge Shaler Area at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
