Softball Recap: Lakeview Victorious

Lakeview came out on top against Brookings-Harbor on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Honkers walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Bruins. The win continues a trend for the Honkers in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won six in a row.

Kami Vance was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly McLain, who earned three runs and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Addie Holderman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lakeview's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Brookings-Harbor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
