Preview: Madisonville Mustangs vs. Bullard Panthers
The Madisonville Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bullard Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Madisonville will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Madisonville posted their biggest win since November 16, 2023 on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 62-35 victory over Hudson. Given Madisonville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Hudson is ranked 578th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Madisonville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Olyvia Brooks out in front who scored 13 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. Brooks hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Quin'eysia Shaffer was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Bullard's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jacksonville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bullard in their matchups with Jacksonville: they've now lost four in a row.
Madisonville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Bullard, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.
Madisonville beat Bullard 41-34 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Will Madisonville repeat their success, or does Bullard have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
