Archbishop Carroll beats Bishop O'Connell for their third straight win

The Archbishop Carroll Lions had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 13-3 victory over Bishop O'Connell. That's another feather in the cap for Archbishop Carroll, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Archbishop Carroll found their leader in underclassman TK Davis, who rushed for 229 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Davis' longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Bishop O'Connell to a paltry 142 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Archbishop Carroll's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Diego Chapman and his three sacks.

Archbishop Carroll's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Bishop O'Connell, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-5.

Archbishop Carroll will square off against St. Mary's Ryken at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (St. Mary's Ryken is ranked 46th in Maryland, while Archbishop Carroll is ranked 63rd in District of Columbia). As for Bishop O'Connell, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Bishop Ireton at 12:00 p.m.
