Baseball Recap: Catholic Memorial Takes a Loss

Catholic Memorial fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Waukesha West on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 6-5. The Crusaders have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Catholic Memorial saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Freschi, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another was Jesse Sobczak, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Catholic Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Waukesha West, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catholic Memorial will venture away from home to challenge Muskego at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Waukesha West, they will challenge Waukesha South at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines are facing the Blackshirts at the right time seeing as the Blackshirts are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
