Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Takes a Loss

Roosevelt extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 10-13 in the process. They fell 4-1 to the Norco Cougars. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Norco, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games.

For Norco's part, Landon Hovermale spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

At the plate, Dylan Seward was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 matchups. Kevin Leon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Roosevelt had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
