Preview: Emery Spartans vs. Richfield Wildcats
The Emery Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Richfield Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Emery posted their biggest win since November 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Delta 60-30 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Emery has posted against Delta since December 15, 2016.
Emery found their leader in underclassman Kenadie Maughan, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was KaBree Gordon, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Richfield scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Manti 69-48. The victory was familiar territory for Richfield who now have five in a row.
Emery's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Richfield, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4.
Emery came up short against Richfield in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 59-53. Can Emery avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
