Softball Recap: Patapsco Patriots vs. Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines
Patapsco had lost five straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it six. They lost 17-3 to the Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines. The Patriots were not able to make up for their loss to the Wolverines from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Western Tech & Environmental Science, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.
For Western Tech & Environmental Science's part, Nicole Camacho made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Camacho posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Danica Minter and Mars Althouse did most of the damage at the plate: Minter went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run, while Althouse went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Althouse has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Juliahna Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Western Tech & Environmental Science beat Patapsco by a score of 15-5 later that day.
