Recap: Two Rivers Warriors vs. Holy Family Catholic Fire
Even though the Holy Family Catholic Fire scored an imposing 65 points on Thursday, the Two Rivers Warriors still came out on top. Two Rivers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 67-65 win over Holy Family Catholic. The win was all the more spectacular given Two Rivers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Holy Family Catholic is ranked 35th).
Two Rivers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Amundson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elayna Vannett, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Two Rivers and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Holy Family Catholic, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Two Rivers' road trip will continue as they head out to face Cretin-Derham Hall at 5:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Cretin-Derham Hall will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Holy Family Catholic will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Visitation at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Visitation is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
