Baseball Recap: 14 Straight Home Wins for Sutter

Sutter proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the East Nicolaus Spartans. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.

Aiden Zwissig looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Karter Johnson, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Blake Agger, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Sutter pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for East Nicolaus, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Sutter and Woodland will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for East Nicolaus, they will be taking part in a tournament against Shasta at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
