Basketball Recap: Upsala's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

Upsala entered their game against Royalton on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Upsala Cardinals fell 58-47 to the Royalton Royals. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Royals are ranked 24th).

Despite the loss, Upsala still got an impressive performance from Samantha Pilarski, who went 11 for 23 on her way to 25 points. Pilarski's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zoey Leners, who posted seven points and six boards.

Upsala's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-5. As for Royalton, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.

Upsala has already played their next contest, a 39-36 defeat against Osakis on the 24th. As for Royalton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 43-32 win against Holdingford on the 24th.
