Recap: Newport Wildcats vs. Ludlow Panthers
The Newport Wildcats and the Ludlow Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Newport Wildcats had to settle for second. Newport was outmatched by Ludlow on the road and fell 62-6. Newport's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Newport lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rod Thompson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Newport's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Ludlow, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Newport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ludlow will head out on the road to face off against Kentucky Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kentucky Country Day is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
