Volleyball Recap: Vestavia Hills Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Saraland

Vestavia Hills faced Saraland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rebels took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in August.

Leading Saraland to victory were Taniyah Smith and Elena Pugh. Smith had ten assists and five digs, while Pugh had three digs and three aces. That's the most digs Smith has posted over her last six matchups.

Vestavia Hills' loss dropped their record down to 21-10. As for Saraland, their record now sits at 30-6.

Vestavia Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Hewitt-Trussville on the 16th. As for Saraland, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against McGill-Toolen on the 11th.
