Baseball Recap: Chisago Lakes Area Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Chisago Lakes Area ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Zimmerman Thunder 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Thunder two weeks ago, they had to take a 6-4 loss.

Zander Bleymeyer spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chisago Lakes Area is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Chisago Lakes Area saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jadon Greene, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Nathan Wehrenberg also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Chisago Lakes Area's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Zimmerman, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chisago Lakes Area will venture away from home to challenge Cloquet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Zimmerman, they will challenge Cambridge-Isanti at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bluejackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.63 runs per game on average), something the Thunder will no doubt try to take advantage of.
