Hoover suffered their biggest loss since November 25, 2024 on Saturday. 2025 welcomed they with a 73-52 loss courtesy of the Whittier Christian Heralds. The Tornados' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Whittier Christian found their leader in sophomore Leland Carrido, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Carrido is becoming a predictor of Whittier Christian's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 6-2 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nori Thompson, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Whittier Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Hoover will host Muir at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Whittier Christian, they will venture away from home to take on Maranatha at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Whittier Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.
