Baseball Game Preview: Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys vs. Hondo Owls

The Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys will face off against the Hondo Owls on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Falfurrias 2.7, Hondo 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Hondo will be up against a hot Falfurrias squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Fightin' Jerseys walked away with a 7-3 victory over Hidalgo on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Fightin' Jerseys have won by exactly four runs.

Andre Cisneros and RJ Ozuna did most of the damage at the plate: Cisneros got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple and two RBI, while Ozuna got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Derek Chavera was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Hondo came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 6-2.

Josiah Quintanilla was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Quintanilla wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rudy Alvarado, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Falfurrias' record is now 19-9-2. As for Hondo, their record now sits at 18-5-1.
