Recap: Conifer Lobos vs. Golden Demons

The Conifer Lobos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 56-19 defeat at the hands of Golden. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Conifer of the 69-16 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

Despite the loss, Conifer saw an underclassman step up: Megan Swearengin scored eight points. That was a full 42.1% of Conifer's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Allie Neal continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Golden, scoring 15 points along with two steals. Zonyalane Bermanis was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.

Conifer's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Golden, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.

Conifer won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Eagle Valley at 12:30 p.m. on February 10th. Conifer comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Golden, they and D'Evelyn will face off at 10:00 a.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. D'Evelyn will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Golden surely won't give up without a fight.
