Softball Recap: Caverna Takes a Loss

The Caverna Colonels came up short against the North Hardin Trojans on Friday, falling 15-4. The Colonels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Adreana Salvador spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and 11 unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Caverna saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Summer Sallee, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Caverna's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for North Hardin, they pushed their record up to 17-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Caverna will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Knox at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.19 runs per game on average), something the Colonels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Hardin, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-3 victory against Todd County Central on the 9th.
