Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley Heights). They won by a run and slipped past the Blue Valley Rams 8-7. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Mack Shanks made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Shanks was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Cayden Dummermuth was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
The victory got Valley Heights back to even at 2-2. As for Blue Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Coming up, Valley Heights is taking a road trip to take on Frankfort at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Frankfort will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Valley Heights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Blue Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Onaga at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Onaga has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something Blue Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of.
