Volleyball Game Preview: South Colonels vs. North Polar Bears

South is 8-2 against North since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Colonels will look to defend their home court against the Polar Bears at 4:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

South is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Doherty Memorial just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 3-2. While the Colonels didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Highlanders 25-16 in the first set.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 27-25, 24-26, 26-24, 15-10.

Meanwhile, North came up short against St. Paul on Friday, falling 3-0. The Polar Bears have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

North's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for South, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Everything went South's way against North in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as South made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Colonels repeat their success, or do the Polar Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
