Ukiah came out on top against Vintage on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Crushers 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Crushers: they've now won four in a row.

Ukiah got a great performance from Jaxon Mellus as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Mellus has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Robby Corippo, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ivan Castro was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple.

Ukiah's record is now 10-4. As for Vintage, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ukiah will take on Cardinal Newman at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Vintage, they will square off against Napa at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
