After each having a week off, Ransom Everglades and Gulliver Prep will shake off the rust and duke it out at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Ransom Everglades' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 44-0 victory over Somerset Academy Key. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Ransom Everglades' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Guevara, who threw for 83 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Duncan, who rushed for 75 yards and one score on only six carries.

Another reason for the win was Ransom Everglades' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Charlie Holleman and Callum Kelleher, who racked up four sacks between them. Holleman has become a key player for Ransom Everglades: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least one sack, but 2-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gulliver Prep). They blew past St. Brendan, posting a 42-0 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Ransom Everglades better keep an eye on Brendan Beery. He was instrumental in Gulliver Prep's win, throwing for 183 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Beery a new career-high in passer rating (160.4). Dennis Obsaint got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Gulliver Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Champ Smith, Obsaint, and Leondrez Leonard picked up one apiece. Obsaint got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Gulliver Prep is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.2 points over those games. As for Ransom Everglades, their record is now 6-4.
