The Staunton Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Staunton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Civic Memorial hit Staunton with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Greenfield/Northwestern faced off against Camp Point Central on Friday. The Tigers skirted past the Panthers 9-7.

Talon Albrecht was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Brock Bowman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Greenfield/Northwestern hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Camp Point Central struck out nine times.

The win got Greenfield/Northwestern back to even at 12-12. As for Staunton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12-1 record this season.

Greenfield/Northwestern's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Staunton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Greenfield/Northwestern, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Staunton's hitters?

Staunton beat Greenfield/Northwestern 4-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
