Jayden Herring posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Tuesday. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Herring and Preston will host Ripley at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Sadly, Herring's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Pirates' eight-game streak of wins on the road. With the streak broken, Herring and the Pirates surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Friday's match.
