West Bend East extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 3-14 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ripon Tigers. The Suns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
Mason Sommer put in work no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Sommer was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Davis Rowley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. West Bend East is 2-1 when Rowley posts three or more RBI, but 1-13 otherwise.
As for Ripon, the victory snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 4-16 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 9, 2024.
Like West Bend East, Ripon also got a great game from a two-way player: Shay Otto. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Otto has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Dudzinski, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Weston Page also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Coming up, West Bend East will welcome Slinger at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Owls will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Ripon, they will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against West Bend West at 1:00 p.m. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
