Baseball Game Preview: Frisco Raccoons vs. Walnut Grove Wildcats

The Frisco Raccoons are taking a road trip to take on the Walnut Grove Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Frisco is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

On Friday, Frisco was able to grind out a solid win over Emerson, taking the game 4-1.

Caleb Carter made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other pitching news, Owen Watson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had over his last five contests.

Carter wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Nickson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Walnut Grove). They blew past Denison 19-7 last Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Walnut Grove pushed their record up to 2-8-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Frisco, their record is now 11-5.
