Softball Recap: Hough Extends Winning Streak to Five

Hough waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They didn't even let the Harding University Rams on the board, marking their second-straight 16-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-0 on Thursday.

Abby Camodeca made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Camodeca was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Olivia Bechtel was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Reagan Waldau was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Hough hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive games.

Hough's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Harding University, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hough will square off against Hopewell at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hough will need to watch out since Hopewell has now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. As for Harding University, they will challenge West Mecklenburg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
